The deep web, invisible web, or hidden web are parts of the World Wide Web whose contents are not indexed by standard search engines for any reason. The content is hidden behind HTML forms. The opposite term to the deep web is the surface web, which is accessible to anyone using the Internet. Here are some of the most terrifying deep web facts.
1. The Size of The Deep Web
When it comes to the internet, many people like to explain it as being in layers, with the web we use in our daily life being only the very top layer of it all. Facebook, Youtube, and Google are all basic top layer sites. Even those strange porn sites that seem like they don’t belong on the web, are only the tip of the iceberg. A study done by The University of California in 2001, came to the conclusion that the deep web is about 7.5 petabytes large. That’s 7,500 gigabytes. A mere two years later in 2003 that amount of information increased to 91,850 petabytes. Furthermore, the deep web is estimated to account for about 96 percent of all content on the internet, while our top layer is only about 4 percent. That’s about 1 billion pages on the regular web, versus about 550 billion on the deep web. So to sum it all up, the Deep Web is about 500 times larger than the regular web! That being said, if you think the cannibals, child porn, and murder are scary, just take a second to think about all the sites lost in the deep web that no one has stumbled upon, or reported yet.
2. Cannibal Sites
Just like black market sales sites, the deep web also seems to be booming with cannibalistic sites. Everything from cannibal chatrooms, to cookbooks, you can find it on the deep web. There are sites that are as simple as discussing things such as the users first time eating human flesh. However, there are other sites where people can actually volunteer to be eaten. Or to meet with a fellow cannibal and eat each other. While most of the people offering themselves do it for fetish reasons, many of them actually do it for money. There have been stories spread across the web about how people on the Deep Web will often offer themselves up as a meal for a flesh hungry cannibal, in order to have money left for their family. While the exact details about this are unknown, it’s assumable that the cannibals hands the money over to the family before devouring the sacrifice. The whole things comes off as completely medieval.
3. The Human Experiment
This site is considered as one of the most disturbing sites on the dark web. They experiment with living people like injecting bleach into pregnant women, starvation, sterilization, radiation exposure, and several other tortures. The Human Experiment is a warehouse of scariest human experiments. Theorists state that the people involved are homeless men and women who are plucked from the streets. The bio in itself is pretty chilling: “Not all humans are equal, for some of them were born superior to others”.
4. Daisy’s Destruction
It’s difficult to separate fact from urban legend here, since having detailed knowledge of sadistic Australian child pornographer Peter Scully’s videos would basically be an admission of committing a crime. What is clear is that “Daisy’s Destruction” are extreme and brutal videos, available only in the darkest corners of the deep web, featuring children as young as two years old being tortured, assaulted, and in some cases, murdered by Scully and various accomplices. If you are so inclined, you can find descriptions of these videos around the web. But Scully is now in prison and his utterly sickening videos are now the property of the FBI, so it’s safe to assume most of the finer details still available are mere rumor. Still, the very fact these videos exist in the first place is enough to churn your stomach.
5. Cruel Onion Wiki
There’s an old saying: “If you can think of it, it’s probably a fetish.” This adage proves true for many deplorable and inhuman acts, like child pornography, of course, but also for the things happening on the Cruel Onion Wiki. It’s a dark web site that features scantily-clad or semi-nude women crushing and killing small animals - including kittens - under their feet. Animal cruelty laws prevent such sites from operating above the radar, and the Cruel Onion Wiki has been shut down on a few occasions. However, much like the rest of the dark net, the site always manages to resurface under a different name or URL.
6. Pink Meth
Despite the name, the site had nothing to do with drugs. Rather, Pink Meth was a market mainly for men, whereby they could sell nude photos of their exes for a hefty sum. Pink Meth then posted these photos, alongside the women’s names, home addresses, phone numbers, and any other information the operators could dig up. Then, a ransom on the content was delivered to the victim - pay up to have the photo removed, or let the whole of the dark web have access to your personal information, including your nude photos.
7. Dead Girls
This site pretty much does what it says on the tin. For all of the necrophiliacs out there, Dead Girls offers pages showing pictures of dead girls .Other internet users have said that the photos range from 5 to 16, all of girls who died from various ways and means.
8. Meet my Sisters
This is basically a porn site that offers a sight into an incestuous form of sex slavery. The bio from the site says: “My dad has always had a strange liking for his girls.
